Nice place!This place has a nice veiw but it is horrible for fishing we were told when when first came in that not to cast our lines out just to drop them in because they have a rock barrier all the way around the pier....ok first strike we started dropping our lines in and not even 4-5 off the pier we were getting snagged I have never lost so much tackle on one trip in the little amount of time being there strike number 2 strike 3 was we sat out here and when we werent getting snagged we werent even getting a bite Considering this pier is privately owned and maintained, a dollar isn't bad to go out - especially if you want to fish for a while. With 8 of us in our group, we decided we could see the water just fine from the free boardwalk outside and opted to not go onto the pier.The pier looked nice from The Sky Wheel and I thought it'd be nice to take a walk over there and to the end of it, just for that nice breeze while the sun was shining down and very hot. However, Pier 14 under that concept did not take off as expected.
Admission to the pier was $1, so WHY NOT check it out, right? Beautiful view and great service. Great deal on the crab legs. Choose between indoor and outdoor seating. Pier 14 was closed for 5 months due to Hugo.Being uniquely different than most Myrtle Beach area restaurants, Pier 14 promises food enthusiast a truly enjoyable dining experience. Not much to see or do out there so again confused by the $1 fee to enter.While walking down the boardwalk, we saw the pier extending into the water and decided to venture to the end and maybe take a family picture. Hell, I live in NH and we never charge for anyone to walk on our wood to see the water. Need more spaces to sit as it fills up quickly during weekends. The current pier originally opened as a night club and a late night dinner venue in 1984.
