In that case, I would recommend the Estrel and stay again. The area is unimpressive but has markets, bars and a few restaurants nearby. The stage at the adjacent Estrel show theater hosts top quality Las Vegas style entertainment all year round.
We had to check out by 1200 but when we went to do so, at 1200, we were told no problem we could stay later if we wished to. Being Germany's biggest hotel, it is fun to wander around.
How I found myself there was that my EasyJet flight was cancelled, so they put us up for free and meals included.

After breakfast we were shown the business computer centre so we could check in on our flights later in the day, not from Berlin but rather Hamburg. We used the vouchers for lunch, €50 was quite sufficient. The check-in was so easy and efficient, and as we had been stuck at Tegel for five hours it was a relief just to sit down.
As we were travelling with a budget airline we really did not expect to be booked into a 5* hotel.
